the Obsession Chronicles"We don't remember the dream,

walking the dogshake 40: see the full show
once again, i'm repeating myself but my obsessions don't fade quickly * most of the time it feels like i'm just rotating focus through a few obsessions that go deep enough to last for life *
this week it's photography (check it out: slide show heaven) * when i walk the dog i almost always have my digital camera & sometimes it feels more like a photography expedition than walking the dog * Pippin makes a great photographer's dog * it's best when he can be off leash but when he's on leash he's pretty good about waiting while i take a picture * he seems to understand that pulling my arm will make me unhappy so he sits down to wait ...most of the time * of course it's his motion that provides almost half of my inspiration * the photo at right is part of the shake series, which is fun for both of us because i have to throw a stick for him to catch him shaking when he gets back to shore * the cookie series is another favorite & the walk series is the one that started it all... the swim series (with more than 200 photographs to choose from!) is next up * | ||
mariposa 64: see the full show
another part of the same obsession is thankyouViggo.com which has become my art site * right now i've got 7 slide shows up, a few of them with more than 20 photographs, & there are stacks (or i should say folders full) of photographs waiting in line, stacks that grow larger every time i walk the dog * sometimes the photographs pile up without my going farther than the front porch: the other day i stood out there watching some butterflies feed on the wonderful plant whose name i've temporarily forgotten or i'd recommend it highly to all wildlife-loving gardeners * 20 minutes later i came in with 65 photographs! those became the latest slide show * now if i could only get the hummer at the bee balm!
all the time i spend over there makes me think i need to give this site some serious attention * it seems that no matter how often i go through & work on the whole thing i could always spend more time on it * either i learn something new or my perspective changes... i'm moving again this month so i'll give it a good going over when i'm settled, if not before * not like you care... |

my horrorscope this week
(for the week of 1 July 2004): July is Reinvent Your Family Month, and today begins Home Improvement Week. Your short-term assignment is to beautify your sanctuary. Get rid of stuff that tends to keep you locked into sterile memories, and fill the place with fresh symbols and accessories that make you excited about the future. That should get you in the mood for the more demanding task, which is to change whatever needs to be changed in order to create the exact family feeling you have always wanted.
angel cards i just drew:
courage faith harmony how am i doing?
i guess it'll be a little late for reinvent your family month, but i'm moving down to live on the same property with mine at the end of the month * my folks, that is, which is my dad & his wife of many years * my mom lives nearby & so do my sister & brother so i really am hoping to reinvent my relationship with my family * i think it is going to take a lot of courage & faith to reach that magic harmony but i've got plenny of both these days -- & family is worth every effort, just like art is *

my favorite onscreen crushes:
the boys Viggo *
Billy Boyd * Gene Hackman * Ryan Gosling * Colin Firth * i'll admit it: i think Outback Jack is the hottest reality tv star, ever * & the girls
the best movies i've seen lately:
Fahrenheit 9/11 * Lord of the Rings (all 3, what joy) * Crimson Tide * Girl with a Pearl Earring * The Cooler * movies i want to see next:

questionnaire:
my answers to those questions he always asks on Inside the Actors Studio are as follows (today):
my most favorite word is beer *
my least favorite word is no * what turns me on is not having enough hours in a day * what turns me off is not having enough hours in a day * a sound i love is baby birds * a sound i hate is the dryer that's always going next door * my favorite curse word is fokker * a profession other than my own that i would love to try is interviewer * a profession i would hate to try is beekeeper * if i end up at the pearly gates & there is a god to greet me, i would want her to say, "you can relax now, you're among friends" * |

ways that Pippin is like the hobbit:
* he's always concerned about second breakfast * he has big hairy feet * he seldom wears shoes (he has been known to wear a slipper on his nose) * he's a total fool (but an honest fool) * he's got a goofy loveable face * he's intensely loyal but also makes new friends everywhere he goes * he likes to go walking, but home is best of all * he loves to sleep in a nice soft bed * his speech is very rustic * he squeals like a girl (just like Billy/Pippin does several times in the movies ways that Pippin is not like the hobbit:
* he doesn't really smoke too much, Pip
* he doesn't like beer either * he swims like he was bred for it (funny, that) * he'll never be able to have 13 babies (in fairness, that was Sam -- as far as i've read Pippin only had the one he named Faramir) * he's missing his Merry * he makes a lot of noise walking through the woods * he doesn't sing (well, not exactly) |
my favorite dream this month:
this one's awful, but it's my favorite because it's been making me laugh all day * i'm in my bedroom but it's much lighter then the one i'm in now & there's a door open from it into the kitchen where there are other people chatting & enjoying the evening * i'm laughing trying to write this because in my bed with me is Bill Clinton & we're having too much fun fooling around * yikes! i'm almost afraid to ask my mom what she thinks that one means... stick 11 nothing like a nice roll in the grass after a long swim in the Willamette River |
