the Obsession ChroniclesIt's a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.

well the universe is laughing with me, that's for sure * every time my endless faith in the universe even flickers that funny universe proves, in the most gently humourous way, that it really does always provide * after some wallowing in that sometimes unavoidable friend depression for several days last week i had one of those Great Weekends a girl gets blessed with every once in a blue moon * it started with a concert -- the concert was the main event really * Joe Craven -- wow! now that's some music! he plays a fiddle or an angel food cake pan or his thighs or cheeks or whatever's handy * he played with an incredible ambidextrous keyboardist (a complex base line with his left hand on one keyboard & the lovely intricate rhythm with his other hand) & drummer (using both hands & both feet as if they weren't even connected to the same body) * loved it, best concert i've seen in some time * sometimes i feel so rich & lucky to live in this wonderful community * in the first song Joe came to the chorus of a highly personalized rendition of O Susannah & he said "everybody sing!" & guess what, everybody sang! maybe that doesn't sound extraordinary but it sounded like a regular choir in there & i doubt there was a single person who didn't sing * i've been to concerts in other places & i'm no musician but i know that a concert given to a horde of musicians is a special thing & that's what we get around here * any of you get a chance to go see Joe, do it * & i've nothing to brag about but the fact that i was awakened in the very first hour of this Valentine's day for my own private midnight concert & i must say it was quite nice * |

my horrorscope this week
(for the week of 10 February 2005): Happy Valentine Daze, Aries! During my quest for the advice that might be most helpful to your love life, I gathered the following words of wisdom. 1. "There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness." - Friedrich Nietzsche. 2. "Love is not about losing freedom; it's about sharing freedom with a partner who's as talented a liberationist as you." - my friend Sarah. 3. "I hunger for your sleek laugh and your hands the color of a furious harvest. I want to eat the sunbeams flaring in your beauty." - Pablo Neruda. angel cards i just drew: brotherhood faith birth what the tarot says keep your imagination open how am i doing?
