the Obsession Chronicles

hold it right there
I'm gonna show you something pure

whole wide world

posted 30 December 2004

begin now (everyday again)

i'll try not to rant too much about how much i love beginnings, but i am especially excited about the coming year (only hours away for my Kiwi friends) * hopefully it's all about attitude because i've got my eyes wide open on the wide open path(s) ahead of me * it would be stretching the truth to say that i have a plan (i mentioned open?) but i have some ideas & i'm out picking brains trying to figure out how to tie some of the tastier pieces together * i'm in the mood to "go home or go big" as my wise & fun-loving friend Justin loves to say * i can't be bothered to be embarrassed or to hesitate or to pussyfoot around when my dreams are so simple & clear * why hold back? why not make a complete fool of myself once or thrice? i'm not scared...

a few resolutions

* to get back to Canyonlands & New Zealand *

* to keep no more beer in the fridge -- not ever (sigh), except when friends visit... moderation in all things, y'know, ahem * but y'know what they say: a beer a day could be a plane ticket, or som'l'at: something like that (as an old friend from Jersey said it)

* to make my lovely home better than it was when i found it in at least one lasting way every month * 2005 is going to be a year to use my hands, play with wood, get used to the ol' hammer again, learn some tricks from my elders & see this chunk of land & all its houses set up to last through another good set of these wet, salty coastal years *

a few toasts

May all your troubles in the coming year
be as short as your new year's resolutions.

Here's to a long life & a merry one.
A quick death & an easy one.
A pretty girl & an honest one.
A cold beer -- & another one!

May we kiss whom we please
& please whom we kiss.

my horrorscope this week
(for the week of 30 December 2004):
Machismo is a term that refers to the aggressive demonstration of stereotypical masculine qualities. Feminismo, on the other hand, signifies a potent expression of what are usually thought of as feminine traits. These include sensitivity, receptivity, emotional intelligence, a knack for nurturing others, a drive to create beauty, and a skill for building relationships. This will be important for you to keep in mind in the coming months, because 2005 will be the Year of Feminismo for both Aries men and women. Are you ready to supercharge your feminine qualities?
